Arbutus Ridge home sells well below (yes, below) asking

It’s been easy for us to become jaded about reporting on the bidding wars and Sales Success we’ve seen on the west-side this year. “What’s that? 10% over asking price? We don’t get out of bed for less than 15% over.”

But amongst the crazy sales, there have also been some sellers struggling. The sub-$1 million condo market doesn’t seem to be nearly as hot. And we’ve seen a few sellers of single family homes settling for less than they wanted.

Such is the case with today’s Drop Zone candidate. Check out the Arbutus Ridge view-home that sold for significantly under its asking price, after the jump…

Dropping millions from asking on Southwest Marine Drive

Recently we’ve been profiling a lot of Sales Successes – with houses on the west side going way over asking.

Heck – we’re even hearing about price jumps as sellers try to take advantage of the Spring hype that’s been building.

But fans of the Drop Zone – fear not – there are still properties that are dropping prices. Like today’s candidate, a Southwest Marine Drive home that’s shaved literally millions off its original asking price.

Pics and price drop details are below…

A sinking asking price on Deering Island

When a house isn’t selling, some sellers will go for the band-aid approach and drop a price significantly and quickly to spur interest.

But sometimes sellers can’t decide whether to fish or cut bait, and end up with a slow procession of small drops that can drag out the stress (and pain).

Such looks to be the case for today’s Drop Zone candidate, a waterfront Deering Island home that’s been on and off the market for months.
