You’ve probably heard it recently – Vancouver’s sky high real estate prices rival or even top New York’s. So is it true? Today we take a very anecdotal look at two neighbourhoods with some similarities to compare what you can get for $1 million.

We’re heading to Gastown and New York’s Lower East Side. Gastown is likely the closest thing Vancouver has to Manhattan living, and shares a few things in common with the LES. They’re both neighbourhoods in transition (although the LES is further ahead in that transition). They both have a plethora of brick loft buildings. And they both have access to some of their city’s best restaurants and bars.
